Eyebrow and forehead lift.
Often age-related processes make eyebrows “move down”, which not only make the face visually older, but also give it an expression of exhaustion, anxiety, gloom and sadness. Nowadays eyebrow lift, which is usually the same as forehead lift, is highly demanded and technically worked out surgery that aims to return the face a young and fresh look. .
There are several methods you can use to lift eyebrows to a higher position, most important of which are listed below:
-
Classic forehead lifting;
-
Incise at the edge of eyebrow (a direct eyebrow lifting);
-
Endoscopic forehead lifting;
-
Eyebrows lifting with the access through the upper eyelid (with or without Endotayn implantant) ;
-
Brow lifting with threads.
Classic forehead lift.
One long horizontal incision is performed in the scalp, forehead tissues get lifted, skin and tissue excess get cut and the incision - sutured. The technique is effective and technically not difficult, does not require long operating time. But its main disadvantage that it leaves a scar. And since both men and women with age lose their hair volume - the scar may become quite noticeable in the future.
Direct eyebrow lifting. Some skin gets excised above the eyebrow in the form of half moon (comma, butterfly wing). After that eyebrows get lifted to a new, higher position. Although this technique gives a fairly intense eyebrow lifting, the main disadvantage is still the scar, which may be quite noticeable.
Because of noticeable scars these techniques are rarely practiced now. They have been replaced by various low-impacting or less surgically effective methods:
Lifting eyebrows with special threads.
Eyebrows are physically located in same layer with the forehead tissues. The thread is laid inside the soft tissues of the forehead above the eyebrow and is lifted up, moving the eyebrow into a new, higher position.
Browpex is an alternative method that uses advantages of the incise in the fold of the upper eyelid. It is usually done within the upper eyelid plasty (blepharoplasty).
Through the incision, after removing the excess of tissue, fat, and eyelid skin (blepharoplasty), or even without it, a surgeon forms a tunnel which leads up to the eyebrow. Fascia, which holds the brow in the current state, gets peeled, eyebrow is moved to a new, higher position and is fixed to the orbital bone. Fixation is possible in two ways:
- With Endotain implant.
Endotain Implant Endotain looks like a special "hook" made of absorbable material that allows fixing SMAS of eyebrows in the desired position. Complete resorption of the material lasts 4-6 months, after which fibrous tissue is formed to keep an eyebrow in the future. - With surgical threads
Eyebrow is sutured from the inside to solid fibrous tissue that covers the orbital bone. A few stitches are done - three to five on each side - to fix eyebrows in the desired position.
Browlift when accessed through the upper eyelid, does not leave additional scars, there is no risk of hurting frontal nerve, and there is no risk of alopecia.
Even though eyebrow lifting within minimally invasive techniques is insignificant, the surgeries are good in performance as they are not complicated, do not require complex surgical instruments, can be performed under local anesthesia and give a natural result that leaves the majority of patients satisfied.
However, there are some disadvantages as well- there is a difficulty in maintaining the symmetry, because initially eyebrows are located asymmetrically.
ТIn addition
minimally invasive techniques are not suitable for those patients who do not have sufficient relaxation of the soft tissues in the upper third of the face. Unfortunately, these patients are in majority, so the modern endoscopic face lifting supersedes all other ways to lift the eyebrows.
Endoscopic forehead lift
. Through several small incisions hidden in the scalp a surgeon using endoscopic equipment performs the detachment of tissues for further displacement and their fixation in a higher position. Sometimes surgeons make incisions in certain forehead muscles, such as the muscle between the eyebrows, which forms wrinkles. This technique excludes the formation of wrinkles and lowering of the eyebrows in the future.
But those patients who have weak hair follicles, especially men with alopecia, should accept the fact that some scars will be noticeable at least for a while.
